Maulers stop Bulls in OT

BILLINGS - The Billings Bulls scored a dramatic goal with nine seconds left in regulation to force overtime, but the Missoula Maulers were not to be denied Friday at the Centennial Ice Garden.
The Bulls pulled their goalie and used an extra attacker late in the the third period and the result was a goal by Colby Spoonemoore to make the score 5-5. Blair Murphy answered for the Maulers at 3:24 in the extra period with a power-play goal that gave his team a 6-5 victory.
The Maulers (29-5-1) moved back into sole possession of first place in the American West Hockey League standings with their ninth win in a row. Helena, which went into Friday's action tied in the standings with Missoula, dropped a 4-3 home decision to Gillette.
Paxton Bell scored a hat trick for the Maulers with a goal in the second period and two in the third. McKinlee Baum earned the win in net for Missoula with 33 saves.
The Maulers will play at Billings again at 7:30pm on Saturday
